TFM = Thin Film Membrane (not chlorine tolerant, always use at least one carbon type filter prior to the membrane on a chlorinated water supply)

GPD = US gallons per day (this is a manufactures rating based on laboratory conditions, warm water, low TDS and high water pressure... none of which most people have in their homes, best to estimate a realistic production rate of 1/2 to 2/3rds of the rating on moderate water conditions.
