Notes on the Main Sample Bottle: uses Nitric Acid as the preservative in our heavy metal test sample bottles. The purpose of this is nitric acid reduces the sample pH to below 2, which prevents the metals from adhering to the container walls or precipitating as oxides or hydroxides.

*Notes on Mercury* For specifically testing Mercury, we use a separate 40 mL glass vial which preserved with Hydrochloric Acid (HCl). Use caution when handling this bottle, gloves, eye goggles and mask are needed. Do not wash out the bottle and be careful to not splash water out of the bottle when filling. If the bottle over fills, cap it immediately and wash the bottle and spill area.

Extra Safety Notes: If anything from the containers gets on your skin, in your eyes, flush with water and seek immediate medical attention. If anything is accidentally ingested, flush mouth with water or milk and seek emergency medical attention.
