Sterilight Genuine Replacement UV Quartz Glass Sleeve

The Quartz Sleeve is what protects the lamp or bulb from the water that flows through the stainless steel chamber. Ultraviolet light shines through the quartz glass sleeve into the water which creates the germicidal action of the ultraviolet system. A water-tight seal is created at each end of the quartz sleeve by o-rings. These o-rings should be replaced on a yearly basis when the bulb is changed and come supplied with the quartz sleeves and bulbs.

Layers of minerals, metals and organics may form over time on the surface of the quartz sleeve, possibly impeding the strength or dosage of ultraviolet light into the water. It is therefore necessary to clean the quartz sleeve periodically. This situation can often be exaggerated when systems are left on for long periods of time without water flow, so one cannot necessarily base a cleaning schedule on water volume alone. Sterilight recommends pre-treatment for hardness and iron in particular when levels reach or exceed 7gpg for hardness and 0.3 for iron, and general water quality reference of maintaining a minimum 75% UVT rating.
